Dr. Kathryn Edwards

Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
Kathryn Edwards serves as Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion for the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE). In this role, she is responsible for development and implementation of LACOE’s equity strategy both for the organization internally, and in support of the 80 school districts that LACOE serves.

Dr. Edwards has worked as a district office administrator in the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Pomona Unified School District. In addition to her work in public education, she enjoyed a fifteen-year career in the private sector where she worked for leading technology companies including Apple Computer, IBM, and Sun Microsystems.

Strongly committed to systems change, she actively participates in organizations that promote equity and social justice. Edwards serves as a member of the Los Angeles Unified School Districts’ Human Relations, Diversity and Equity Commission and as a Board Member of Educators for Excellence (E4E), a teacher advocacy organization. She was a contributing author to the California Association of African American Superintendents and Administrators/California Collaboration for Educational Excellence (CAAASA/CCEE) Equity in Action Report (2019) and she also provided leadership for the development of Supporting the African American Learner: A Guide for Transforming Beliefs, Systems and Practices for Black Students (2020).
