Ryan Estrellado is an Executive Consultant at the Equity, Disproportionality & Design Project, a program of the South County SELPA in San Diego. He is a co-author of Data Science in Education Using R, an innovative open source book about learning data science using real-life education data. He is the author of the book The K–12 Educator’s Data Guidebook: Reimagining Practical Data Use in Schools, in which he humanizes, challenges, and reframes how data is used in education.
Ryan tells inspiring stories about the reality of education work, ranging from overcoming a fear of data to finding a creative practice in the workplace. He has given talks on delivering compelling data stories, sharing complex topics with broad audiences, and promoting equity in schools. Ryan is a co-host of the podcast About Practice, a show about research and practice in education. Ryan has over twenty years of experience in public education, first as a school psychologist, then as an administrator, and now as a designer and consultant for equity-related projects. He is an alumnus of the Strategic Data Project, a project of the Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University.
Ryan lives with his family in San Diego, CA.
