School Social Worker
Coon Rapids, Minnesota
Rebecca Anderson Fly graduated from the University of Minnesota as their first white graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Afro-American Studies. After getting her master’s degree in social work, she began her career as a school social worker. As a white woman with her education and experience, she is in a unique position to speak on perceptions that others have of us. She believe this is one key to changing our educational system as it works to authentically educate black and brown students. She is also working with her local police department to help them become a more just and less biased police force. Personally, she is the mother of three biracial children and four triracial grandchildren. For her, working for social justice and equity is a life path.
