Equity Conference 2022: Equity is Love in Action

Children have unlimited potential that can be unlocked when issues of equity, SEL, and achievement are addressed using a literacy infused asset-based approach that includes (1) explicit instruction framed by and anchored in 7 Strengths that include belonging, friendship, kindness, curiosity, courage, confidence, and hope, (2) literacy engagements (interactive read alouds, shared/close reading, literacy clubs, family intervention, etc.), and (3) access to a an abundance of culturally relevant texts that act as 'mirrors, windows, and doors' that provoke identity development and sociopolitical consciousness.
