Equity Conference 2022: Equity is Love in Action

In the wake of the recent “racial awakening”, institutions have moved to center race and racism in their operating frameworks. Encuentros Leadership (EL), which since its inception in 2003 has recognized the struggles Latinx male youth face in education, will present a culturally affirming, racially conscious and strength-based framework in addressing the issue pertaining to Latinx male youth. EL does this by recognizing students’ proclivity for growth and development, given the appropriate and enriching environment for them to do so. EL presents a framework focused on creating these spaces so that Latinx male youth specifically, but all marginalized students at large, can maximize their potential in an environment that recognizes their strengths and contributions to society.
