Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, many districts have adopted a renewed focus on equity. But how do we prevent it from living only as a buzzword, and instead cause true change in our classrooms? In this session, get to know a framework for teaching that has the power to disrupt systemic racism: instruction that is grade-level, engaging, affirming and meaningful. Explore characteristics of educator mindsets, planning practices, and teacher actions that embody cultural relevance and antiracism in the classroom, as well as the attributes of professional learning that can transform instruction system wide.
