Within the SDSU’s Center for Equity and Post secondary Attainment, the College Avenue Compact Program redefined its postsecondary advising model from a one size fits all enrollment into 4 year universities to an equitable and asset-based approach linked to post-pandemic realities and educational recovery, introducing apprenticeships, certification avenues, degrees offered at community colleges, and employable skill building. Serving 2,000+ 9th-12th graders from a highly urban, low income high school (98% students of color), participants will learn the responsive advising techniques, working with students and families to redefine the value of education and while addressing systemic barriers for future success.
