By 2026, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that there will be 1.5 million computing jobs but just 400,000 students with the skills to apply for those jobs. Yet, while we have newly adopted K-12 Computer Science Standards in California, a recent report by the Kapor Center showed that just 42% of California’s high schools offered a CS course in 2018-19; In this presentation we’ll reflect on these data, and explore strategies to make CS accessible to all learners through Inclusive Teaching Pedagogies. Additionally, we’ll explore resources and tools we can implement back in our districts, or in the classroom tomorrow to engage learners in computational thinking.
