Access to high quality mathematics instruction is an equity issue - and one that requires dismantling historically fear-based, trauma-inducing, teacher-centered instructional practices. Using the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and mathematics routines can provide access and opportunity for each and every student, building them up as expert learners and reducing the association of the mathematics classroom as a place of fear. Join us as we explore specific routines, the teaching moves that connect to UDL principles, and design next steps to empower the students in your school to become expert learners in mathematics.
