Equity Starts with Us - Social identity and diversity affect how individuals experience the world. Understanding your own identity helps build appreciation for others. In this session we will explore key dimensions of diversity and focus on the importance of understanding the intersectionality that informs an individual’s identity and experiences. Participants will use the Distinctions of Equity as a tool for reflection and explore the Eight Common Competencies of Culturally Responsive Educators. Participants will identify which competencies are current strengths, which provide areas for further study and growth, and make a self-commitment to take action.
