Learn from a panel of American Indian educational experts. Participants will learn strategies for confronting anti-Indigenous racism and colonialism in California. The presenters will provide free, resources from California Indian Education for All and TeachRock | RUMBLE: Music and Indigenous People in the Classroom to honor and engage American Indian students and families. Participants will learn Native Ways of Knowing concepts that include: understanding American Indian student identity and needs; acknowledging historical bias and institutional racism; revitalizing and honoring Indigenous languages; learning about current California policies and initiatives to support American Indian Education; and identifying strategies to support American Indian student success. The panel will reflect on how to design intentional culturally responsive, place-based learning spaces to engage, support, and honor K-12 American Indian students and families.
